Hardcore World
No law, no mercyThe hardcore world is a separate server with its own rules. There is no protection against other players here: anyone can attack you, anywhere outside a protection zone, at any time.
In exchange, killing yields real experience, and dying costs more.
Your account is the same. What changes are the characters: the ones from the normal world stay there, and the hardcore ones live only here.
What does not exist here
Nobody gets marked. There is no white, red or black skull, neither on your character nor on anyone else's. Looking at someone, you will never know whether they have killed.
Killing a player carries no punishment at all. There is no unjustified kill count, no PK ban and no red skull waiting for you at the end of the day.
In the normal world, anyone below level 50 loses nothing on death and cannot be attacked. Here there is none of that: from level 1 on you can already be attacked and you already lose when you die.
It does not work. No item that protects against loss has any effect here.
Killing a player gives experience
This is the biggest advantage for whoever fights. When you kill someone, you take 75% of the experience the victim lost, in proportion to the damage you dealt. Whoever helped also gains, split by each one's damage.
Since the gain comes out of what the victim lost, it is never bigger than what the death cost them. There is no jackpot.
The rules are these:
- Only kills at your level or above count. The exact math: the victim's level times 1.1 has to be higher than yours. A level 40 only gains by killing level 38 and up. Killing far below yields nothing.
- There is no cap going up. Killing someone far stronger pays off a lot.
- There is a cap per death: at most 200% of your total experience, or 25% if you are below level 50. That way nobody new jumps dozens of levels at once by killing someone huge.
- The same victim only counts 5 times per server save, and each repeat is worth 10% less: 100%, 90%, 80%, 70%, 60% and then nothing. Killing the same target on loop does not work.
- Killing a member of your own party gives nothing.
- Experience bonuses do not apply in PvP, no stages and no other multiplier.
Dying costs more
The death penalty is 16% higher than in the normal world.
And blessings protect less. In the normal world Supreme Blessing zeroes the loss. Here it reduces it a lot, but never zeroes it:
| Normal world | Hardcore | |
|---|---|---|
| No blessing | loses 0.70× | loses 0.81× |
| Blessing Potion 1 | 0.49× | 0.70× |
| Blessing Potion 2 | 0.28× | 0.59× |
| Supreme Blessing | loses nothing | 0.45× |
With Supreme you lose a little over half of what you would lose without a blessing. It is still very much worth buying, it just is not immunity anymore.
Worth remembering that the experience the killer takes comes exactly out of what you lost. In other words, being blessed also makes you worth less to whoever kills you.
Items and equipment
On top of the normal item loss, here an equipped item that is giving you some effect can be destroyed when that effect is removed in combat. Charged rings and amulets, for example.
Combat modes (the hand)
The PvP mode button, next to the attack modes, still applies here. The choice is yours, and in this world it weighs a lot more than in the normal one:
You hit no player at all. It is the mode for casting area spells without catching whoever is nearby. Good for hunting alongside people you do not want to hit.
You hit anyone. It is the default mode here.
You only hit those in a declared war with your guild, and allies. It is there so you do not hit neutrals in the middle of a war.
Level Mode does not show up in this world. It was there to avoid hitting anyone below a certain level and, since there is no level protection here, it would have no effect at all.
Running away is harder
- Trading damage with someone locks the protection zone right away, even if you are only defending yourself. In the normal world whoever fights back can still enter a PZ. Not here.
- After killing someone you spend 15 minutes unable to log out and unable to enter a PZ. If you killed, you have to hold on.
